Hello, my name is Maria and I have over fifteen years of experience working with depression, anxiety and many other emotional difficulties.
Just to give you a brief introduction to my professional experience, it began when I moved to England from Spain 17 years ago, shortly after I completed my degree in Psychology. During my first two years I worked in various mental health roles- from caring for young people with brain injuries, to supporting adults in their recovery from addictions, as well as assisting clients with housing relating issues.
I then shifted my focus onto developing my skills within psychological interventions. Whilst working in a mental health and addiction rehabilitation hospital I provided cognitive behaviour therapy to groups, as well as individual counselling. Following this, I trained and worked in a Dialectical Behavioural Therapy service in the East London and the City Mental Health NHS Trust.
In 2005 I moved to Devon and worked in Primary Care NHS services for seven years, including the Depression and Anxiety Service in Exeter. For the last year and a half I have worked with adults with severe and enduring mental health and personality disorders in the Psychology and Psychotherapy NHS Service in Exeter.
My work experience and training has given me a broad and deep experience in the understanding and treatment of mental health issues.
